Semaglutide Weight Loss Injections
Weight loss isn’t always easy. Many adults struggle to find a healthy and confident weight despite their efforts with diet and exercise. Unfortunately, obese and overweight individuals are at risk for several health complications, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, and more. To restore your health, energy and self-confidence, we invite you to learn more about weight loss injections from IV Drips.
IV Drips is pleased to offer New Orleans patients a medically-supervised a weight loss program using innovative semaglutide injections. These injections represent an FDA approved breakthrough for fast and effective weight loss therapy for patients who have at least one weight-related health condition.
What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide injections are a type of medication that was originally used to treat type 2 diabetes. It is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, which means it mimics the action of the naturally occurring hormone GLP-1 in the body. Semaglutide injections for weight loss are commonly prescribed under brand names Wegovy and Ozempic and are administered subcutaneously once a week. Semaglutide works by stimulating the release of insulin, reducing the production of glucose in the liver, and slowing the absorption of glucose from the intestines.
Are Semaglutide Injections a Weight Loss Potential for You?
Semaglutide was approved for weight loss in obese or overweight adults with at least one weight-related health condition, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol or type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide works by suppressing appetite, increasing feelings of fullness, and reducing food intake. It also slows down the emptying of the stomach, which can further reduce hunger and increase satiety.
Semaglutide was initially developed and approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, but during clinical trials, researchers noticed that participants were losing weight as a side effect. This led to further studies specifically evaluating semaglutide’s weight loss potential. In clinical trials, semaglutide was found to be effective in achieving significant weight loss compared to a placebo in obese and overweight individuals with or without type 2 diabetes.
Based on the results of these studies, the FDA approved semaglutide for weight loss in adults in June 2021, making it the first non-surgical treatment option approved for chronic weight management in over a decade. IV Drips is pleased to offer this revolutionary treatment as part of our easy and convenient weight loss program that you can participate in from the comfort of your home in New Orleans.
Why Choose Semaglutide Injections to Lose Weight?
At IV Drips in New Orleans, we help patients realize the number of benefits that semaglutide injections can provide for effective weight management, including:
- Significant weight loss: In clinical trials, semaglutide injections have been shown to result in significant weight loss compared to a placebo, with participants losing an average of 15-20% of their body weight.
- Improved overall health: Weight loss achieved through semaglutide injections has been associated with improvements in blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar control, all of which can help reduce the risk of obesity-related health conditions such as heart disease, stroke, and type 2 diabetes.
- Long-term weight management: Semaglutide injections have been shown to help individuals maintain weight loss over the long term, with studies demonstrating sustained weight loss for up to two years.
- Convenience: Semaglutide injections are administered once a week, which can be more convenient for some individuals compared to other weight loss medications that require daily dosing.
- Non-surgical option: Semaglutide injections provide a non-surgical option for weight management, making it a potential treatment option for individuals who may not be candidates for weight loss surgery or who may prefer a non-surgical approach.
In general, semaglutide injections have the potential to be an effective and convenient option for individuals struggling with obesity and related health conditions. However, it is important to work with a healthcare provider to determine if semaglutide injections are an appropriate treatment option based on an individual’s medical history and overall health.

Are You a Candidate for Weight Loss Shots?
Semaglutide injections for weight loss are FDA-approved for adults who are obese or overweight (defined as a BMI of 27 or higher) and who have at least one weight-related health condition, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide injections may be an appropriate treatment option for individuals who have struggled to lose weight through diet and exercise alone.
However, semaglutide injections are not suitable for everyone. It is important to talk to a healthcare provider to determine if semaglutide injections are appropriate for an individual based on their medical history, current medications, and overall health.
Semaglutide injections are also not recommended for people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (a type of thyroid cancer) or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (a genetic disorder that increases the risk of thyroid cancer), as the medication may increase the risk of these conditions. Additionally, semaglutide injections are not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
